What’s in InduSoft Web Studio 8.1?
InduSoft Web Studio 8.1 will make it easier than ever to publish applications online, use OPC UA server on all runtime editions of InduSoft Web Studio, and purchase licenses for thin clients and drivers. Here is an overview of the major enhancements coming in 8.1:
Take advantage of an improved Studio Mobile Access client that supports all native objects for web-based applications in HTML5 compatible browsers. Supported objects include Alarm/Event Control, Smart Messages, Pushbuttons, and Listboxes.
Support is now included for the OPC UA Server for InTouch Machine Edition, EmbeddedView, and IoTView.
There are no restrictions for the number of drivers, and no restrictions based on the type of thin clients. Licenses are now purchased based only on the number of concurrent thin clients.
Seamless upgrades
InduSoft remains committed to maintaining 100% backward compatibility. Applications designed in any previous version of InduSoft Web Studio can be opened and immediately run in InduSoft Web Studio version 8.1. Users with maintenance agreements will receive free upgrades to 8.1, along with any patches or service packs. For current customers without maintenance agreements, 8.1 will be available for a modest upgrade cost based on current licenses.
InduSoft Web Studio remains platform agnostic
InduSoft maintains dedication to the “Develop once, deploy anywhere” mantra. As with previous versions of the software, InduSoft Web Studio will continue to support all current versions of Windows (Including Windows 10, Windows Server editions, and Windows Embedded editions), and Linux and VxWorks with IoTView. Publish applications to the web easily with the HTML5 based Studio Mobile Access thin client, and send and receive data from almost any data source, either locally or on the cloud.
With over 250 communication drivers and an available driver toolkit API, you’ll be able to connect to nearly any hardware or communicate with most common protocols. Your system can use ‘best in breed’ hardware, regardless of protocol, and legacy applications will be easy to update as technology changes. InduSoft remains committed to supporting the growing number of protocols and open standards. InduSoft Web Studio 8.1 adds support for the OPC UA server in this version, on top of the current support for the OPC UA client, and OPC DA, and HDA.

With these, you’ll be able to save up to 90% development time by importing your legacy applications into InduSoft Web Studio. Once you’ve imported them, take advantage of all the native security features and robust communication capabilities of InduSoft Web Studio 8.1.
Template applications save even more time
InduSoft also offers template applications that can further reduce development time. Simply plug into existing applications or use them as standalone applications that require limited configuration to get up and running. InduSoft offers a Business Intelligence Dashboard, an Andon template, and a PackML template for machine builders and users in the packaging industry.
